Communicating in Virtual Teams (ILM endorsed)

This practical course is for professionals who are leading or working in international virtual teams. Participants will build understanding of the challenges of leading and communicating in international virtual teams, identify best practice in key areas of international team work, and develop the knowledge, behaviours and attitudes necessary to achieve results.

Course Content

Courses are customised to client requirements and can be run as face-to-face seminars or as a blend of face-to-face and virtual classroom sessions. The blended programme below is for a one day face-to-face kick-off session, plus four ninety minute virtual Webex sessions.

The four virtual meeting sessions of 90 minutes are based on the themes below. The content is a blend of role play and simulation based on realistic or actual team situations. Participants receive instructions for each session in advance, with facilitator feedback given to the group at the end of each session.

    • Making an effective personal introduction to your virtual team at an online kick-off
    • Agreeing a team vision, defining objectives and clear ground rules
  2. Providing support
    • Reporting current work challenges
    • Getting support and advice from the team
  3. Understanding causes of resistance to your project • Identifying ways to overcome resistance
    • Developing high performance
    • Giving feedback virtually
    • Closing and defining personal action plans
