Intercultural mediation is an internationally recognised
tool for overcoming the barriers to key services such as health, social protection, education, justice and law enforcement and in finding employment, that are very often experienced by people from minority ethnic backgrounds. The practice involves a trained Intercultural mediator facilitating cross-cultural communication and mutual understanding between a service provider and clients from minority ethnic backgrounds with the objective of achieving a high quality of service and outcome.
The aim of this project is therefore to share and further refine and customise, the learning, training and practice of Intercultural Mediation by delivering training programmes in Intercultural Mediation, devising a guide for best practice in Intercultural Mediation, and creating a new standard for the professional role of Intercultural Mediator across Europe.
