York Associates organises a social programme each week with a number of activities in the evenings for our clients. These activities are optional but give a flavour of what York can offer its visitors.
Monday | At 5.00 pm a welcome drink in our coffee lounge and a 30 minute presentation on the city and its rich history (free) |
Tuesday | From 5.00 pm, a walk around the city accompanied by a guide who will point out places of interest. Followed by dinner in a local restaurant (£15 – £25 & accompanied by a member of YA staff) |
Wednesday | The chance to listen to Evensong at 5.00 sung by the renowned choir at York Minster (free – unaccompanied by YA staff) |
Thursday | From 8.00 pm drinks and listen to a live folk or jazz band in a popular York pub (cost of own drinks, & accompanied by YA member of staff) |
For clients who stay over the weekend, we also offer the opportunity to join our sister school, English in York, which usually organises a full day excursion outside York to a local place of interest such as Castle Howard, Whitby & Robin Hood’s Bay, Leeds or the Yorkshire Dales. This usually costs around £25 per person and will be accompanied by a member of staff.
